What is CBD Vape Oil, Vape Juice & CBD E-liquid?

Over the years, CBD vaping has established itself as a mainstream alternative to smoking traditional cigarettes. According to data from Euromonitor International, in 2015, the sales of vapor devices grew by 59pc to £3.9bn, breaking through $6bn for the first time. With all this new-found fame, vaping has no doubt become a favorite in the CBD industry too.

While more and more people find attraction towards this modern trend, only a few know how to safely and efficiently ride through this beautiful experience.

This article is for those who are just starting their vaping journey. It will include CBD vaping, the use of vaporizers and E-liquids, and useful information regarding dosage.

What is CBD Vape Juice/ E-liquid?

CBD products manufactured solely to vape are called CBD E-liquids, CBD vape juices or CBD vaping oils.

Companies derive these extracts from the natural Cannabis plant that contains THC and CBD. They can also obtain from the male cannabis plant called the Industrial Hemp.

The plant extract collected from Industrial hemp is predominantly CBD, with governmentally regulated low levels of THC (less than 0.3%).

After the process of extraction, manufacturers make sure their product goes through a series of purification procedures to remove any impurities such as chlorophyll or other plant components. The extract also goes through the process of decarboxylation, which helps convert CBDA into CBD, which is the more active and purer derivative of the compound.

Since the oils extracted and collected are too viscous, and unsuitable to vape manufacturers add a thinning liquid, or a base medium, as well as vegetable glycerin to the final products.

Manufacturers may also add flavoring to the Vape juices, and so these liquids can come in many different flavors. The products can even come in bottles or cartridges, and you can buy it according to a type of vaporizer.

CBD vape juices also made by adding CBD additives to non-CBD vape juices. These liquids are also like regular E-liquids and can find its use in most vaporizing devices.

Is there any Difference Between CBD Vape Juice and CBD e-Liquids?

CBD vape juice is also called CBD e-Liquid, which people vape. It is the pre-filled cannabis contained within CBD oil cartridges. These contain propylene glycol or vegetable glycol which act as thinning agents and make the CBD vape juice viscous so that it can work with electronic heater coils present in the vape pens.

In comparison to propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin is safer. Propylene glycol can cause allergic reactions, including irritation and inflammation.

Is there any Difference Between CBD Vaping oil And CBD Vape Juice?

It can get confusing for beginners; all these different terms can mess up with one. The answer to this question is that no, there’s not much difference in CBD Vape juice and CBD vape oil. Any CBD based product that you can use for vaping is called CBD vape oil. On the other hand, CBD oils are the CBD products that one can take orally.

What are the Beneficial Effects of Taking CBD Vape Juice?

Vaping has taken the CBD industry by a storm, as more and more people opt for this new trend. Perhaps, the reasons for its gaining popularity are its numerous advantages over traditional methods of drug administration. Many people prefer vaping CBD because;

  1. In the long run, vaping is cheaper compared to other methods of ingestion.
  2. It has a bioavailability that is roughly four times greater than oral methods of intake (15% for Oral intake and around 50-60% for vaping).
  3. Vaping CBD e-liquids deliver almost immediate effects. On the other hand, edible forms can take more than 30 minutes to digest and enter the user’s bloodstream.
  4. CBD Vaping is more suitable for people who suffer from conditions such as seizures, chronic pain, anxiety, muscle spasms, and similar ailments.
  5. Compared to traditional forms of smoking, exposure to some contaminants and harmful compounds is less in vaping.
  6. Unlike other Cannabis products, the vaporization of CBD e-liquids produces a pleasant odor.
  7. Additionally, vaping equipment creates little smoke, as compared to traditional cigarettes, or other material used to ingest the substance.
  8. Vaping also enables users the ability to remain discrete and consume CBD in public.
  9. Vaping CBD e-liquids do not produce any high or euphoria. It is solely for therapeutic purposes which include, analgesic, anxiolytic, aphrodisiac, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, and anti-humoral properties.
  10. Vaping CBD juices don’t leave any bad hang-overs and are legal to take in most of the states.

How to Measure Dosage?

To measure your CBD vape dosage, you have first to determine how much e-liquid your cartridge or vaporizer tank holds. Usually, cartridges come in 1ml cases while tanks can hold up to 2ml of e-liquid.

For the next step, you need to divide the strength of your CBD product (concentration of the vaping liquid shown in labels) with the total volume of the product.

Let’s suppose your daily dosage is 100mg CBD, and you have a bottle of 10ml vape juice that has a concentration of 1000mg CBD. This means that each milliliter contains 100mg CBD.

So, in short, if you vape one complete tank of 1ml CBD vape juice per day, it would account for a dosage of 100mg CBD. In the case of cartridges, if one cartridge holds 1ml of 100mg CBD, then vaping the entire product will deliver the required dose.

If let’s say the cartridge labeled as 200mg, then vaping through half of the liquid will provide the necessary dose.

Note that, the concentrations of CBD vape liquids vary with different manufacturers and different products, due to which dosage calculation for every new product bought is essential.

What’s the Best Dosage for CBD Vaping Oil?

Now that we know how to dose, the next big question is ‘how much should we dose?’ Before answering this question, it is essential to know that all individuals have distinctive characteristics such as body activity, biochemistry, pharmacology, weight, height, diet and the body’s response to external substances.

Keeping all these factors in mind, it is highly unlikely that two people could respond in the same way to products such as CBD vape liquids.

It is, therefore, always suggested that each carry out a series of experiments to determine the perfect dosage for themselves. Users can start with a few puffs of CBD vape juice, increasing them slowly until they find the desired effects. The maximum dosage, however, is about 200mg CBD, after which the results start to saturate.

This is present in a 2014 study, in BMC Pharmacology and Toxicology, where researchers conducted a series of experiments to determine the vaporization efficiency of high doses of CBD.

The results suggest that 200 mg CBD, the highest dose effectively vaporized at 230°C, yielding an availability of approximately 40% in the vapor phase.

How do you Vape CBD?

To begin your vaping journey, you have to get familiarized with the equipment you’d need to vape your product. In the case of vaping e-liquids, a vaporizer would be all that you’d need.

A vaporizer is a device that is used to convert the liquid substance into the vapor state. It has four essential components: a battery, a heating element, a mouthpiece, and a chamber to hold the material for vaping.

The cotton wraps that heating coil of the vaporizer, nylon or silica wick to absorb the e-liquid into the coils. The coil pulls energy from the battery to heat the e-liquid into the vapor state, which a person inhales through the mouthpiece.

One finding says that CBD begins to evaporate at a temperature of around 200°C (392°F), releasing fumes that a person can inhale without burning the plant matter.

While all vaporizers have the same basic setup, they may function differently depending upon the different forms of e-liquids. Below are the three types of Vaporizers used for vaping CBD e-liquids;

1. Cigalike/cartomizers or disposable vaporizers

These vaporizers use pre-filled, disposable cartridges that are easy to swap out and replace. These vaporizers aren’t very famous because their improper usage leads the coil and wick to burn up, leaving the entire system useless. In addition to this, the Cartridges usually tend to be of questionable quality, sometimes containing additives rather than pure oil.

2. Vape Pens

Vape pens are by far the most popular type of vaporizers used for CBD vaping. These pens are easy to use, and you can load them with the oil of your choice. The lightweight, compact and portable design of the product enables users to carry it around almost anywhere. CBD vape pen oils are discreet and can you can use them in offices and other public places.

3. Desktop vaporizers

These vaporizers are comparatively bulky and therefore, less frequent. They are different from other vaporizers because rather than using a mouthpiece, they typically have a balloon or hose for inhaling the vapor.

What are the Side-effects of CBD Vaping Oil?

There are no significant long-term studies to determine the harmful effects of vaping CBD e-liquids. Small studies and researches confirmed that vaping is by far a safer method of consumption as compared to traditional smoking.

This, however, doesn’t change the fact that vaping is yet a new technique. There is limited or no research data regarding its prolonged use.

Many manufacturers add various harmful chemicals to commercially available vape liquids. CBD vaping might be as equally dangerous for health as smoking.

The chemical “Polyethylene glycol“(an extremely bitter and harsh chemical) may sometimes be added to the vegetable glycerin. It allows more CBD to dissolve in the e-liquid.

Another compound “propylene glycol“can cause sinus irritation, nausea, asthma or a headache in sensitive users.

Individuals with more severe allergies might also break out in hives, develop swelling or have difficulty breathing.

What should I look for when purchasing CBD vape oil?

You need to consider multiple things before purchasing CBD vape oil. A bottle of CBD oil that says 250 milligrams, doesn’t necessarily mean that it contains 250 milligrams of CBD. Note that CBD oil contains products other than CBD. So, you need to focus on the amount of CBD exclusive of other ingredients.

Buy products from websites that have third-party testing incorporated. Fake brands claim to sell the best products without showing the results of any tests.

Well-established companies will never oversell their products and spam you with offers. They allow you to make an educated decision without harassing you with all the popups.

Sellers that offer free bottles of CBD oil and where the shipping is free, can be a big fraud. They certainly can afford a few bucks of shipping if they are sending you a free bottle of CBD oil.

Always purchase from companies that use the CO2 CBD extraction method as this method maintains the quality of the product.
