Will VivaZen Kratom Get You High & Is It Addictive?

Vivazen Kratom

When VivaZen Kratom was first launched, there was a lot of uncertainty and fear about it. The uncertainty grew further when the FDA forced the company to change the extract’s ingredients.

In this article, I’ll try to alleviate the fear and uncertainty about VivaZen Kratom and help you decide if you should try it. I’ll tell you what VivaZen Kratom is, what are its ingredients, how you would feel after taking it, how to use it, and where to buy it.

Make sure you read the complete article because there is some important information, which if you miss, you might not be able to fully enjoy the extract. Let’s begin.

What Is VivaZen Kratom?

VivaZen Kratom is a kratom extract that’s available in three different forms — a liquid shot, capsules, and powder. Most people use the liquid shot.

It was launched by a company called United Naturals. On its website, it calls itself the “premium botanical beverage brand” and markets it as a health drink.

The company’s goal is to empower people to live their best lives and reclaim balance through relief and peace.

It aims to make the healing power of plants affordable and accessible to the general public. Their slogan is “Bringing Plants to People.”

VivaZen Ketum quickly became a lot of people’s favorite kratom shot until 2015, when it fell to controversy. It became the focus of the attention of kratom users when the FDA made the company drop kratom from the ingredients of its product.

The FDA was concerned about the potential addictive property of kratom as well as lack of scientific evidence about its uses, safety, and side-effects.

As kratom was removed from the extract, the public’s interest in the product dwindled and sales began to drop. You can’t sell a kratom extract that has no kratom in it.

Soon, the company noticed the drop in sales and decided (in a rather bold and controversial step) to reintroduce kratom in the extract’s ingredients.

This happened in 2018, and since then the company has faced no legal repercussions from the USA government or the FDA.

VivaZen Kratom continues to sell in states where kratom is legal and can be easily found in head shops, large retailers, and online kratom vendors. The extract is doing well and a lot of kratom users are a fan of it.

VivaZen Kratum is said to have two main effects. One, it instills a feeling of relaxation. This is helpful if you suffer from anxiety or most of your days are long and tiring. And two, it reliefs mild muscle pain.

This is the type of pain you get after exercise — if you suffer from other forms of intense, chronic muscle pain, VivaZen Kratom might not help you.

VivaZen Kratom Ingredients & How You’ll Feel After Taking It

Now, a lot of people are curious about the ingredients of VivaZen Kratom. Indeed, it was one of its ingredients — kratom — that made it controversial when it was first released.

Here, I’ll discuss the ingredients in VivaZen Kratom and their main effects. This will help you understand how you’ll feel after taking the extract.

The first ingredient is white willow extract. White willow extract is an ancient substance. It has been used since the 370 BC, the time around Hippocrates.

White willow has a compound called salicin, which sounds very similar to aspirin because it works just like aspirin.

So, white willow extract has been used for a wide variety of painful conditions including headache, muscle pain, gout, and menstrual cramps. You can see why VivaZen is marketed as a muscle-pain reliever now.

Next, VivaZen Kratom contains California poppy extract. Don’t worry, it’s not the poppy grown in Afghanistan.

California poppy is a plant grown in California and it’s the official state flower of California. It’s been used for a wide variety of problems, including anxiety, bedwetting, insomnia, liver problems, nerve pain, and other psychiatric conditions.

While evidence that the plant helps in these conditions is scarce, what’s clear is that it slows the nervous system and induces sleepiness.

This is the reason why you should never take VivaZen Kratom if you’re on sedatives. Sedatives are a class of medicines that also slow down the nervous system.

If you take VivaZen on top of sedatives, the nervous system can be slowed down to a deadly extent. Examples of sedatives include lorazepam, diazepam, and clonazepam. These are generic drug names.

The specific drug brand you take might be differently named. Therefore, it’s a good idea to talk to your doctor before taking VivaZen Kratom.

The kratom present in VivaZen is Maeng Da. Maeng Da is grown in Indonesia and is a very popular kratom strain.

It’s known for pain-relieving and stimulant properties. It also has some mood-enhancing and relaxing properties but these are minor in effect.

So, you can expect a boost in energy and relief in pain after taking VivaZen Kratom. But other effects due to other ingredients (like tranquility due to California poppy extract) will be present as well.

The two ingredients that you should be concerned about are Corydalis extract and Yohimbe bark extract. Corydalis is a plant grown in China and Eastern Africa and has been used to treat stomach problems.

However, there is no evidence about its efficacy and it has been shown to lead to liver damage.

Yohimbe is another alkaloid that has been used to treat erectile dysfunction. But like Corydalis, Yohimbe has significant adverse effects and can lead to rapid heartbeat, heart failure, and seizures.

Please note that Corydalis and Yohimbe don’t always cause side-effects.

They’ve been in use in traditional medicine for a long time and the concentration present in VivaZen Kratom is probably not enough to cause significant adverse effects.

But, if you take VivaZen Kratom for a long time and in large quantities, you might be in for some trouble.

There are other ingredients present in VivaZen too but they are not active (i.e. they have no effects) and are of minor importance. These include citric acid, sucrose, propylene glycol, and potassium sorbate amongst others.

Is VivaZen Kratom Addictive?

This is the question that prevents many people from taking VivaZen Kratom.

First, understand that VivaZen’s potential for addiction comes from the kratom that’s present in it.

Kratom has an alkaloid called mitragynine, which stimulates opioid receptors in our bodies to provide all the different effects kratom gives us. And mitragynine can cause individuals to become dependent on it.

Now, the company doesn’t reveal the amount of kratom present in VivaZen Kratom. And that’s okay because a lot of companies hide the exact composition of their extracts and blends. But according to estimates, a 1.9 oz bottle of VivaZen Kratom contains 1530 mg of kratom. That’s roughly equivalent to 2 to 3 grams of kratom powder.

With that amount of kratom, addiction can certainly develop but if the extract is taken continuously for a long time and in large quantities. This is especially true for kratom beginners.

Also, a lot of people use kratom to treat opiate withdrawal symptoms. This population is particularly prone to overuse of this extract and so is at a higher risk of developing an addiction.

So, long story short, can VivaZen Kratom cause addiction? Yes. Can it cause addiction in the average, occasional kratom user? No.

How To Use VivaZen Kratom?

Due to the complex nature of VivaZen’s ingredients, there are some general rules you should follow when enjoying the extract.

If you’re trying it for the first time, you should drink half the bottle and wait for at least 20 minutes for the effects to kick in.

VivaZen is not an instant extract and it takes some time to kick in.

If you don’t feel anything after 20 minutes, you can go ahead and drink the rest of the bottle. But if you drink the entire bottle in one go, you might be in for an overwhelming ride.

If you are a beginner, you should also not take the drink on an empty stomach because it maximizes the effects. The effects can become very overwhelming very quickly. So, be careful.

Finally, please don’t combine VivaZen Kratom with alcohol or other medications of any kind. As you saw, certain VivaZen ingredients can cause sedative effects and we don’t know how it will interact with alcohol or medications. The results can be fatal.

You should also not use the extract if you are driving, operating machinery, pregnant, or breastfeeding. And because of ingredients like Yohimbe and Coryladis, you should not take the extract if you have any medical conditions.

VivaZen Kratom is especially not recommended if you have a liver disorder, heart disease, CNS disorder, or high blood pressure.

  1. This review (albeit, maybe unintentionally) is talking about the original Vivazen Shot brand…not the knock-off brand shown above on the plastic can of 84caps/100g powder. Vivazen Botanicals Maeng Da is a TOTALLY different animal! Had it tested, and it doesn’t have any of the ingredients mentioned above. The following came back in the lab analysis:

    -tianeptine sodium
    -l-arginine
    -creatine
    -caffeine
-ironically, very little kratom alkaloid was detected
-something in the ephedrine analogue category

Be careful, folks! Tons of knock-offs out there. That is, unless someone is creating knock-off Bliss Nutra products. Pretty sure the original Vivazen never introduced another kratom product once the kratom was removed from the original shots. Long story short, the sparkling flakes in these cans are not simply kratom extract. This product causes a speedball high that lasts a mere 15 minutes, and even the most potent of extracts last longer than that.
